Jailbreak for iOS 6.1 Is Ready for a Massive Sunday Release
It is that time again when we can finally hack our iPhone for extra functionality which is just too awesome to resist. If what the new dev team said at Twitter is any indication, then the jailbreak for iOS 6.1 should be available for download on Sunday. That’s right, mate! You can enjoy Super Bowl and jailbreaking your iPhone all on the same day.
A rumor about the jailbreak for iOS 6.1 has long surfaced but it started getting light of day when Apple released a series of beta version of the firmware update. The team managed to get their hands on it and start jailbreaking it. As a matter of fact, the team has even spent a night with the final version of the update which was officially released a couple of days ago. Apparently, there is nothing significantly different between the beta release and the official one and thus, jailbreaking iOS 6.1 is all possible.
Nevertheless, there is something you need to be aware of. The team suggests that you update your iPhone via iTunes by performing a backup initially. This is done because the team noticed that updating the firmware over the air can result in a longer time for matching the SHSH blobs. It’s not like you can’t jailbreak your device if you do OTA update; it’s just not fast and clean.
All that being said, it’s all now up to you whether you will go for the jailbreak for iOS 6.1 or not. After all, Apple has been constantly improving its firmware and as it stands today, you hardly can tell the difference between stock iOS and the jailbroken one.
