Alert, Malware Spread Started in BlackBerry
BlackBerry users are asked to be wary of new malware threats. Websense ThreatSeeker Network was intercepted by a malware campaign targeting BlackBerry users. Mode used malware is done by sending an email notification as if they have created a new BlackBerry ID.
Message then continued, “To enjoy the full benefits of the BlackBerry ID, follow the instructions in the attached file.” This is where the malware is trying to lure users into downloading malware.
In fact, the email is a copy and paste directly from the BlackBerry ID email. So be careful with malware which is predicted to be rampant. 17 of 36 anti-viruses identify malware on VirusTotal.
What will the malware do on your BlackBerry? Malware will be able to run other executable file formats and modify system registry to automatically start when the system starts the malware program. So do not let them gain control and narcissistic pictures of your BlackBerry.
